The load’s contact surface forms part of sling selection. A capacity label does not establish suitability for every edge shape or environment.
Describe contact surfaces
Sharpness, roughness and potential movement can affect a sling. Drawings or photographs of the contact area help define protection needs. Protective accessories must also be selected using manufacturer guidance.
Protection does not replace suitability
Sleeves and corner protection do not remove product limits. Evaluate them with material, environment and load arrangement. Suspected damage requires competent review.
Identify missing information in the enquiry
Provide sling type, finished length, load geometry and environment. Photographs of an old product may help but do not alone establish that a replacement is suitable.
A short enquiry checklist
- Contact geometry
- Operating environment
- Finished length and hitch arrangement
- Protection and manufacturer instructions
This guide supports technical communication. It is not site-specific selection, inspection or approval for use; follow relevant manufacturer instructions and competent assessment.
