A rope is not selected independently of its drum and sheaves. Sharing equipment information early helps identify incompatible options.
Start with equipment instructions
Sheave geometry, drum arrangement, winding direction and duty cycle form part of equipment design. General catalogue guidance does not automatically supersede the equipment manufacturer’s specified rope.
Provide drawings with references
Drum/sheave drawings, equipment model and part references clarify the review. Identify multilayer winding where applicable and mark unknown dimensions rather than estimating them.
Separate supply and spooling scope
Delivery of rope does not imply that spooling or installation is included. Where support is required, access, equipment condition and operational planning are reviewed separately.
A short enquiry checklist
- Equipment make and model
- Drum/sheave drawings
- Winding arrangement and rope length
- Site-service requirements
This guide supports technical communication. It is not site-specific selection, inspection or approval for use; follow relevant manufacturer instructions and competent assessment.
