Chafe protection should be assessed with contact surfaces and movement. Different sleeves do not provide identical protection in every application.
Identify the contact point
Location, static or moving contact and surface condition matter. A drawing or photograph of the contact area helps define protection requirements.
Select rope and protection together
Protection type should be compatible with rope construction and the connection arrangement. Adding a sleeve does not remove the manufacturer’s operating limits for the rope.
Consider access for inspection
The rope beneath a protective system must also be assessed. Inspection method and frequency should follow the relevant product and operating conditions.
